Another thing to keep in mind when choosing a coffee table is the cost. Think about your habits and how you use your table. Do you like to sit on the sofa with your legs up on the table? Then you will need a square ottoman style table. You need space for storing magazines or other such pieces? You need a table with several drawers or shelves or you can go for one looking like a bottom drawer. Your living room is the meeting place of friends? You need a large table so you can fit lots glasses or cups on it. You want a big meal, but not always have enough space? Choose a "nest" of tables, meaning three tables of different sizes that can be used separately, but can be tidied away beneath one and other.
Lucite Coffee Tables. If you're looking for the perfect table that is visually appealing and gives the eye the illusion of space but that you have reservations with a glass table, then Lucite ends your search. You can now show off that beautiful Persian rug with a coffee table made from Lucite a material which is also known as acrylic that is stronger and clearer than glass.
A mass of orange, green or red will be a splash of colour and will cheer you up every morning. Usual height of coffee tables is normally between 40 and 45 inches. If you often have guests, a higher one might be more suited, because everyone will be able to reach their cup. A rule of interior design says that the height of the coffee table should be about the same height (or not less than five inches lower than) the couch. Ideal length is two thirds of the couch. However, no rule is set in stone. Depending on your tastes and the rest of the room, you can choose what ever size and colour coffee table you wish.
Round and Rectangular Coffee Tables. Lastly, a coffee table regardless of any material or color does come in many shapes. The most popular shapes are rectangular and round. Choosing a table's shape should depend on the amount of space in the room, suitability of the shape to the other furniture, and/or whether or not you have young kids at home who might accidentally bump onto rectangular table edges.
